Mina offers innovations that will revolutionize the blockchain environment, where most platforms have validators such as miners and stakers. Mina protocol takes a different approach by having multiple participants, each with different tasks, within the decentralized network. Users on the platform; It has three basic roles: validator, block producer and snarker.
Validators: They interact with zk-SNARKS, which enables validation of consensus information. In the Mina protocol, each user is considered a validator.
Block producers: In the Mina protocol, block producers work like standard miners or stakers and are paid through transaction fees along with the block reward. Block producers must also create SNARKs at the same time as previously committed transactions. If this is not done during block generation, an incomplete block may occur and nodes will not confirm validity. However, block producers also have the option of producing SNARKs or using those produced by a special group of participants called Snarkers.
Snarker: Snarker generates zk-SNARKs used to verify transactions and is also known as a provider.
Block producers receive transaction fees for adding new blocks to the blockchain and pay Snarkers through this fee. Snarkers must make an offer to earn the right to pay. The block producer is also responsible for promoting the Snarker. In this way, a business economy is created where multiple snarkers can send offers based on the same transaction. On the other hand, block producers choose the bid with the lowest fee to increase their profits. As a result, snarkers compete to produce low-cost Snarks.
