Emma Stone (Grace Faraday) is one of Hollywood’s most sought-out young actresses, having garnered both critical and audience acclaim for her starring role in The Help, for which Stone also received a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award and the National Board of Review Award as part of the ensemble cast in the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s New York Times best-selling novel.
Stone previously earned rave reviews as Olive in Will Gluck’s comedy Easy A, and her performance in The Scarlet Letter update also earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy, as well as an MTV Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance and a nomination for the BAFTA Rising Star Award.
She most recently took on the coveted role of Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man opposite Andrew Garfield in the title role, and will soon be at work on the sequel, due in 2014. She co-starred in director Gluck’s Friends with Benefits, alongside Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, and with Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell in the comedy Crazy Stupid Love.
Stone lent her voice to the upcoming animated comedy The Croods along with Ryan Reynolds and Nicolas Cage, and will also appear in the multi-storied Movie 43, in one of nine segments comprising the feature-length film.
Her first outing with director Ruben Fleischer was in 2009’s Zombieland, with Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson; that year she was also seen in the independent drama Paper Man, alongside Jeff Daniels and Ryan Reynolds. Her additional film credits include the animated comedy Marmaduke, the romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, The House Bunny, The Rocker, and the Judd Apatow comedy Superbad, in which she portrayed the love interest of star Jonah Hill.
When she’s not filming, Stone is an advocate for Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. Laura Ziskin, the late producer The Amazing Spider-Man, started the organization and got Stone involved. In addition to SU2C, Stone recently became an ambassador for Gilda’s Club New York City.
Named for the late comedian and original cast member of Saturday Night Live, Gilda Radner, Gilda’s Club offers a place where people dealing with cancer can join together to build social and emotional support. Stone has become an active member in the Gilda’s Club community and continues to do so by engaging with their younger departments for children and teens.
