Full Moon in Blue Water (1988)

Full Moon in Blue Water movie synopsis. In Texas, Floyd is the owner of a decadent bar nearby the coast. He misses his wife Dorothy, who disappeared one year ago, and does not pay attention to the business, giving credit to everybody. His senile father-in-law The General lives with him demanding care.

He has two employees, the former inmate of a mental institution Jimmy and the spinster Louise that has a love affair with him and has offered her saving to become his partner. Floyd has a huge tax debt and his pseudo-friend Charlie is forcing him to sell the place very cheap. However Louise finds that a bridge will be built soon and will increase the value of the bar.

About the Story

Floyd owns a bar called the Blue Water Grill in a town of that name on an island off the gulf coast of Texas. He has lost interest in almost everything in the year since the mysterious disappearance of his wife, neglecting his business and staying home to watch old home movies of their life.

Floyd’s father-in-law, known to all as the General, is confined to a wheelchair and trapped in the throes of dementia. A mentally challenged local man called Jimmy comes by to look after the General at times when Floyd can’t be there.

Into their lives comes Louise, a school bus driver who is falling for Floyd and trying to get him to come out of his stupor. Land opportunists are trying to seize his property and taxes need to be paid. A crisis on the home front forces Floyd to finally confront his future.
