Second Sight (1989)

Taglines: He’s in the detective biz with a psychic wiz!

Second Sight movie synopsis. The story, which connects these wacky detectives with the College of Cardinals, is least appetizing when it introduces Bess Armstrong as a perky, lovestruck nun. There seems to be a car chase every 15 minutes.

One of the film’s few interesting peculiarities is its pacing, since it demonstrates the same degree of artificial liveliness from beginning to end. Aside from the cheap blue-light special effects that are supposed to simulate an airplane’s passing through the Callahan Tunnel in Boston, there’s nothing in the last reel to distinguish it from the first.

Second Sight is a 1989 comedy film from Warner Bros., starring John Larroquette, Bronson Pinchot, Stuart Pankin and Bess Armstrong. In the film, a paranormal detective (Larroquette), a psychic (Pinchot) and a nun (Armstrong) search the streets of Boston, Massachusetts for a missing person who has allegedly been kidnapped.

Although scripted by Patricia Resnick (who previously co-wrote 9 to 5) and Oscar-winner Tom Schulman (for Dead Poets Society), the film was a critical and commercial failure; it garnered mostly-negative reviews, and earned only $5.3 million at the United States box office.
