Following recent complaints by Channel One in Russia, RTE (in common with several other broadcasters) had been asked to make public the results of their failed televote. Ultimately, I thought, this has to be a good thing since it contributes to teenage girls feeling more okay about being gay, right?

The music industry may be shakier than a drunkard walking a balance beam, but at least one new act is rocking steady. That would be T.A.T.U., aka Russian exports Lena Katina and Julia Volkova, whose tinny electro-pop is winning over fans faster than you can say Milli Vanilli.

This lesbian duo seems very contrived. I wouldn’t doubt their whole image was manufacted by their agent and assorted Russian mobsters looking to be the next Lou Perlman. Does anyone have the real deal on them?
