The Louvre Museum (French name is Le Musée du Louvre), was the first state museum of France, which opened in 1793 after the French Revolution. It is the largest and most visited museum in the world, not only in Paris. Approximately 10 million people visited the museum in 2012, and approximately 35,000 important works are on display. Apart from hosting the most important historical art collection in the world, it is one of the biggest palaces of Paris.
The history of the building dates back to the Middle Ages. It was built in 1190 by Philippe-Auguste to protect Paris against Viking raids. The famous glass pyramid was added to the building, which was later converted into a museum by Napoleon in 1989. It was originally built in 1204 as a palace and served in the royal family for many years. After the relocation of the royal family, it was rather neglected, but it was restored in 1793 and turned into a museum.
It is by far the most important museum among its peers and contains many works of art. The Louvre Museum consists of seven sections. In the museum, which is divided into sections such as painting, sculpture, Egyptian arts, pattern, Greek arts, eastern arts, there is one officer for each department. Since it is located in a very large area and it is not possible to visit all of them in a single day, the tickets purchased are valid for five days.
The famous Mona Lisa painting is also preserved in this museum. Many of the greatest cultural heritages in the fields of art, architecture, archeology, sculpture and painting are in the Louvre Museum. Rubens, David, Titian, 3rd century tiles, neolithic period works, Nile Civilization works are just some of the cultural heritage here.
The glass pyramid in the garden in each photograph is the entrance to the museum and long tails are often formed. For this reason, it is possible to buy tickets from the internet and external vending machines. There are 3 sections as the Richelieu Wing, Sully Wing and Denon Wing and these sections are coded with colors. With these colors, you can plan where and when to visit.
In our opinion, what must be seen when visiting the Louvre Museum; Cousteau’s Marly Horses, Jan Vermeer’s Dantek Girl, Medieval Moat, famous Milo Venus, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa painting. Of course, there is much more to the museum than the most important art collection owner.
It is necessary to include this museum, which is not only a collector’s name in terms of education and science, such as Louvre Museum school, conference hall, education section and the section where the works are examined.
The Paris Louvre Museum consists of seven sections. It is divided into branches such as painting, sculpture, eastern arts, Egyptian arts, Greek arts, artworks and patterns. The famous Mona Lisa of Leonardo Da Vinci is also located here. It takes two days to visit the entire museum.
