Blonde Ambition (2008)

Taglines: Small-town girl. Big-time dreams.

A loose remake of 1988’s Working Girl, Blonde Ambition follows a young woman (Jessica Simpson) who becomes the unwitting pawn of two ruthless business executives in their bid to usurp and replace the head of an international conglomerate.

The city that never sleeps is about to meet the girl that doesn’t quit. Jessica Simpson stars as Katie Gregerstitch, a small-town Oklahoma beauty who’s come to New York to visit her long-time boyfriend. But after finding him in the arms of another woman, Katie decides to lose her cheating man and to find herself. With the help of two scheming co-workers (Andy Dick and Penelope Ann Miller) , she lands a job at a top construction firm where she meets and falls for a great guy (Luke Willson) with an even greater secret. Now, nothing is going to stop this go-getter from getting exactly what her heart desires in the romantic comedy that proves you can’t keep a bright, beautiful down-home girl down.

Blonde Ambition is a film released in December 2007 and inspired by the theme of the Academy Award-winning movie Working Girl starring singer/actress Jessica Simpson playing the part of a small town girl who moves to New York City and rises up into a career as a business woman. The film also stars Luke Wilson, Paul Vogt and actor/comedian Andy Dick.

Before the movie started filming, the media reported that Blonde Ambition was a remake of the 1980’s film Working Girl. After Simpson learned about this rumor, she talked to Empire Online and stated, “I don’t know where that came from”, “it’s a movie called Blonde Ambition co-starring Luke Wilson. It’s definitely the theme of Working Girl – this small town girl that moves to New York City to rise up into this great career as a business woman pretty much. But it’s definitely not a remake.” Simpson also said that this film is more of a knockabout comedy than the Melanie Griffith starrer, which was a drama genre movie.
