Quentin Tarantino: "I will never make Kill Bill Vol. 3"

Back in 2009, Quentin Tarantino seemed to be fairly up on the idea of Kill Bill Vol. 3. A possible premise involved Vernita Green’s (Vivica A. Fox) daughter growing up and coming after The Bride (Uma Thurman) for revenge. At one point, Tarantino said he wanted to wait until that actress was old enough to play the role, and nine years later, that time could be now… except Tarantino is no longer interested.

Speaking to We Got This Covered, Tarantino says, “I don’t know if there’s ever going to be a Kill Bill. Vol 3. We’ll see, probably not though.”

Hit the jump for more including why Tarantino will never make a James Bond movie. Keep in mind that Kill Bill was never intended to be a trilogy. Kill Bill was envisioned as one long film, but he was forced to cut it down into two parts (Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair has never been officially released in the United States).

As always, there’s really no telling what Tarantino has planned next. His latest indication is a possible trilogy involving Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained. The third film would be a “companion piece”, and I can see how it could fit in with regards to three movies in three genres in three time periods.

Moving on, for those holding out hope that Tarantino will ever make a James Bond picture, you can put those hopes to rest. He tells We Got This Covered that, he wanted to direct Casino Royale, “but they missed their opportunity.” I find it difficult to believe any producer would turn down Tarantino, but either way, it’s not going to happen. I’m not really bothered by Tarantino refusing to make a Bond film. He’s skilled at making amalgams of a genre, and if he’s going to make a spy movie, I’d rather it be in his own voice rather than having to play by the rules of a franchise.
