The Apparition: The more we believe, the stronger it seems to get

The Apparition: The more we believe, the stronger it seems to get. What if you move into a new house to build your new life and discover that you are not the only beings within its walls? What if the more you believe the unbelievable, the more it becomes real… and so terribly? If terror scares you, there is sure to hide anywhere? These are the questions central to the writer / director Todd Lincoln’s debut feature film as director, “The Apparition”.

Lincoln cites various documented experiences that piqued his interest in the genesis of the project, including one during the 1970s in which several parapsychologists created an appearance by leveraging the collective mental energy group. “I felt at the idea that it is possible to” believe “a ghost in there would be a new way of telling a ghost story,” he said. “That was the seed and continued to build and evolve from that.”

Producer Joel Silver offers, “I am always intrigued by the haunted house movies. As a child, they frightened me, and I still love that feeling. I also like working with the talented young directors and Todd offered a great new take on this kind of story.”

Producers Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman has become familiar with Lincoln during their mandate to Rogue Pictures, where he had a project in development. “We wanted to make a film with Todd,” producer Alex Heineman States.

In the history of Lincoln designed, he says, “The horror is in the context of America in transition, centered around a young couple in transition. We touch on the notion of the power of belief.” Kelly and Ben is besieged by a force “thought” mysterious and mischievous to life for a few years at the university laboratory experimentation earlier. But the entity has never really disappeared.

Ashley Greene, who plays Kelly, responded to the script immediately, admitting, “After reading it, I did not want to sleep in the dark. How fear can manifest itself into something supernatural annoyed me to the soul. ”

Starring opposite Greene, Sebastian Stan plays Kelly live-boyfriend, Ben. He agrees: “It’s wild to think that the secrets and fears of each person carries around their subconscious is powerful enough to literally move them safer physical surrounding them home.”

Tom Felton, who plays Ben’s college friend, Patrick, a paranormal expert, was also drawn to the premise. “This is not a random shack in the woods,” said Felton. “It’s based on something that people can relate to:. An ordinary life, an ordinary day, an ordinary house”

Lincoln observed: “Sometimes things that are as normal as can be the most terrifying.”

“He wants to be in our world. He wants us.”

When Kelly, a veterinary student to earn a living as a veterinary technician, and her boyfriend, Ben, a technology expert, move into his parents’ property investment suburbs in Palmdale, everything seems perfectly normal, except for the sounds recurring alarms mysteriously disarm, and other strange phenomena. Initially, the two find justification for the bizarre events that transpire in their suburban home, but situations of increasingly bizarre defy explanation, and soon make it clear that they are dealing with something but c is normal.

Greene says: “This kind of thing scares me more than most because there is nothing you can do about it. There is nothing you can really see. Kelly Greene described as “a strong character, good heart, but with an attitude and Sass about it. Lincoln adds, “Sebastian brought something, I do not expect the role of intensity, an edge, an unpredictability. He makes choices surprising. We would walk through all the games we wonder what we would do if this was happening to us. It is very complete.”

In his approach to his role, Stan observes, “Ben is a smart guy who was on a certain path and something has gone horribly wrong. Now, with Kelly, Ben feels like he has a second chance and trying to bury the past. He is working to rebuild his life and tries to ignore his past unpleasant. But it will not be ignored. Lincoln notes, “I wanted to take a younger Guy sophisticated with an edge as a scientific expert. Tom is an interesting player and I am very happy for people to see in this very different role. ”

To complete the cast, Rick Gomez and Anna Clark, the only neighbors who play in the development of vacant properties, where Ben and Kelly reside, and Julianna Guill and Luke Pasqualino that students who participate in the college experience that unleashes the first force obscure.

While most of the action takes place in a house, “The Apparition” was shot on two separate continents. It was shot on 35mm in 2:35 aspect ratio with anamorphic lenses vintage. Almost all the interiors were built at Babelsberg Studios in Berlin, Germany, and most of the exterior were lensed in Southern California.

Lincoln and production designer Steve Saklad identified key locations, to find a backyard in Santa Clarita to double to Ben and Kelly back lawn, and the perfect home for the outside front of Palmdale, north of Los Angeles. The two-storey house is in an unfinished subdivision, and identical structures that surround it are set out in a grid of wind as far as the eye can see, which leads out of the mountain in the distance and a bustling maze electrical transformers overlooking.

Saklad described the neighborhood as “the most quiet, normal, maybe boring area, yet there is a feeling of complete isolation with these strange, vacant lots.”

While still in Los Angeles, the team had to design Saklad home, to make the model and set up lists of products that require shipping by States. To help the emergence of life, the filmmakers turned to Mike Elizalde Spectral Motion owner. Elizalde recalls, “Todd describes a force that was supernatural in origin yet organic nature, a physical presence that does not necessarily comply with the laws of physics so that it behaves as if nothing we know.”

Stan adds: “I hope everyone is caught up in the big psychological game that is being played on these characters. It really leaves you guessing.”

“There are a lot of mind tricks in this film, he digs deep into the roots of what frightens us and affects us and hurts us,” says Greene.

Lincoln concluded: “It was haunted house stories as long as there were houses. In “The Apparition,” why they are haunted, how they are haunted and haunting them is different. We believe the public will have fun with that.”
