My Baby’s Daddy (2004)

Tagline: They’re going from players to playtime.

My Baby’s Daddy movie storyline. Lonnie (Griffin), G (Anderson) and Dominic (Imperioli) are three bachelor buddies from the hood who, after a lifetime of hard partying, are in for a rude awakening when their respective girlfriends all get pregnant at the same time. The fathers-to-be embark on an always hilarious and often touching journey while learning as much about themselves as they do about love and fatherhood.

Meet Lonnie, G and Dominic three diehard bachelors living it up in the City of Brotherly Love. They throw killer parties, chase the hottest chicks and crave the smoothest lifestyles. That is, until now. Now, their easy-going days are about to be seriously interrupted by the one kind of playing around they never expected: playing with the three babies whose surprise arrival will make them each fathers.

In the new comedy My Baby’s Daddy the hip-hop generation grows up and raises children… with hilarious, hair-raising results. But as three clueless new daddies trade in partying for pacifiers and late-night drinking for early-morning feedings and as they figure out how to handle their babies’ mommas — they wind up learning some comic lessons about the true meaning of fatherhood and love.

Taking a fun-loving and lighthearted look at first-time fatherhood, My Baby’s Daddy proves that even the most juvenile of guys can eventually become responsible men. Eddie Griffin, Michael Imperioli, and Anthony Anderson are Lonnie, Dominic, and G, childhood friends who continue to live like children.

But when they find that they’re about to become fathers, they must face up to a whole new set of responsibilities. Lonnie is the most uptight of the three, who soon realizes that his girlfriend, Rolanda (Paula Jai Parker), is more interested in partying than being a mother. Aspiring record producer Dominic is having a baby with Nia (Joanna Bacalso), but he soon discovers that she has fallen in love with her midwife.

And then there’s G, a wannabe boxer who is unable to commit 100% to his girlfriend Xi-Xi (Bai Ling). As the pressures of parenthood put an unbearable strain on Lonnie, Dominic, and G, they gradually begin to see what’s important in life, and do what it takes to become responsible adults. Cheryl Dunye’s film has a positive message underneath it’s comedic exterior, and features standout supporting turns from rapper-turned-actor Method Man and Amy Sedaris.
