Alicia Vikander joins Dreamwork's WikiLeaks movie

Anna Karenina actress Alicia Vikander is in negotiations to star in the Untitled WikiLeaks / DreamWorks Project for director Bill Condon. Daniel Brühl is portraying WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in this biopic, which chronicles the rise and fall of his controversial website.

Alicia Vikander will play one of his co-workers and eventual love interest. Benedict Cumberbatch also stars as Daniel Domscheit-Berg, whose departure from the site in 2011 is credited as a main reason that several international cables were leaked, which lead to the website’s downfall.

Bill Condon is directing from a screenplay by Josh Singer, adapted from Daniel Domscheit-Berg’s book Inside WikiLeaks: My Time With Julian Assange At The World’s Most Dangerous Website and WikiLeaks: Inside Julian Assange’s War On Secrecy by British jorunalists David Leigh and Luke Harding. Principal photography is slated to begin sometime next year.

Alicia Vikander will next be seen in the Warner Bros. fantasy adaptation The Seventh Son. Untitled WikiLeaks / DreamWorks Project is in development and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Daniel Brühl, Alicia Vikander. The film is directed by Bill Condon.
