Kylie thanks ABBA
Kylie Minogue was the unofficial headline act of a recent ABBA tribute show at London?s Hyde Park. The BBC, who organised the tribute, says Kylie ?stole the show? amidst other performers including Chaka Khan, Jason Donovan, Jamie Cullum, West End star Elaine Paige, as well as former-ABBA members Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.
Kylie took to the stage in what the Times called ?sparkly, disco jumpsuit, Farrah Fawcett-flicked hair and blue eye shadow,? performing Super Trouper and later coming back to sing When All is Said and Done with piano accompaniment from Benny Andersson.
The performance was ?a dream come true,? Kylie told the BBC, and the only performance she?ll do for the Brits in 2009. With no UK performances planned, the 41-year-old will soon be heading to the US for a series of small, but intimate, performances of her best work.
?I?m not a nostalgic person but tonight took me back,? said Abba?s Bjorn Ulvaeus to the 36,000 who had gathered for the occasion. The concert forms part of continued ABBA-obsession that?s seen the proliferation of ABBA tribute concerts, stage show revivals of Mamma Mia! and a popular film version staring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
Kylie Thanks Fans
Kylie Minogue has thanked her fans for their support following the revelation she is suffering from breast cancer.
The singer has been forced to cancel a number of Australian and Asian gigs on her Showgirls world tour so she can be treated for the disease. But devotees have rallied round, thousands sending messages of support for the singer and hundreds donating money refunded for cancelled concert tickets to breast cancer charities.
And Minogue is deeply touched. She says, "My heartfelt thanks to the incredible number of people who have sent messages of love and support over the last two days."
"I want to reassure you that I am being well taken care of."
"Olivier (Martinez - her French actor boyfriend) is by my side and I have a lot of family and friends around me."
"I would also like to extend my best wishes to all of the other women around Australia and around the world who are dealing with the same illness".

Kylie buys home on isolated island
Kylie Minogue has bought a house on an isolated island, so that she can escape from the paparazzi when she needs a break.
The singer spent over £160,000 on the retreat, which is located on French Island, 65km southeast of Melbourne.
The island has no power, sewers or sealed roads, and only 90 other residents for Kylie to share with.
Estate agent Hendrik Boer told the Herald Sun, "It is just a nice place to get away from the crowds and paparazzi. The family can come and relax here and they know they will not be bothered.
"There are some gorgeous beachfront properties on the island, but they did not even want to look at them, probably because they didn't want an armada of boats floating outside."
